Talk description (abstract):

China has become the world's second largest economy after decades of development and is undergoing a fundamental transformation from a resource-driven country to an innovation-driven country. Tsinghua University is one of China's top comprehensive research universities, with a mission to train world-class scientists and outstanding engineers. However, Tsinghua has not been offering TRIZ-based systematic innovation courses. Since 2017, the founding team of IMA-Innocloud has been invited to offer the first systematic innovation course at Tsinghua, and has so far offered several innovation-related courses for postgraduate and doctoral students from various faculties, which are open to postgraduate students across the university and have been widely praised by students and faculty members.

This report describes the differentiated educational needs of individual faculties as well as big challenges we have to face in digitalization era, esp. during the hard time of pandemic. The architecture of innovation education courses is introduced, including the Innovation Technology course and the Innovation Psychology course; it describes the basic framework and content of the courses and the modular combinations adapted to different teaching purposes. Triz-trainer SaaS software and the fusion of on-line and off-line teaching method are introduced. The report concludes by showing examples of students' innovation training and looking at the way forward for innovation education in China.

Biography:

Jason Wang, 54, got his master degree from Electrical Engineering Dept., Tsinghua Univ. (THU) in 1993. He had been served as a senior lecturer in THU for 5 years, and then moved to industry in 1998. During his career experience of more than 30 years, he founded several successful companies in automation, robotics as well as innovation services, such as Smart Factory Institute, diagnosis and service provider for life-cycle management of smart factory; and IMA Innocloud, offering innovation training, services, and innovation management software.

Jason Wang is very active in international standardization activities and non-profit technical organization. He is senior expert in quite several TCs of China National Standardization Technology Committees (SAC), ISO and IEC, with working areas of robotics, automation control system, predictive maintenance, IoT etc. He co-founded China Sci-tech Automation Alliance (CSAA) in 2011, and has been successfully leading the organization to be one of most dynamic and well known alliance in smart manufacturing and advanced automation areas. Jason Wang has rich experiences and in-depth insights to advanced manufacturing/Industry 4.0/ Industrial Internet domestically and worldwide. He is also very active in international collaboration and technical transfer.

Jason Wang has been working in innovation service and education area for about 10 years. Through partnership with top innovation masters around the world, he is pursuing in development of innovation driven integrated management framework for enterprises and innovation education courses for young generation talents in university.

Li Huangye, Phd, Sait-Petersburg State University of Engineering and Economics, Level-3 Expert of the International TRIZ Association

Mr. Li is now CTO of IMA-InnoCloud (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd and the innovation consultant of E-Cube (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd. Since 2017, he has also worked as an innovation instructor for Tsinghua University, offering innovation courses to post-graduate students of the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Electronic Engineering and the School of Economics and Management.

Having more than 10 years of experience in TRIZ theoretical research and practical application, Mr. Li has provided innovation theory training and consulting services to companies such as Baosteel, Midea, Hisense, Xiamen Jianlin, etc.

From 2012, he started active promotion of innovation education for adolescents. With the support of Shanghai College of Science of Technology, he has been offering courses on innovation thinking at various schools in Shanghai. Those courses were selected as the premium innovation courses by the Education Bureau of Shanghai Huangpu District.

 

Examples\stories how TRIZ has affected your life or how do you apply TRIZ in your work and life:

Triz as one of the most important innovation tools, has been deeply involved in my personal life and work experience. In fact, my career path has been permanently changed by Triz, from smart manufacturing to a more wider scope of area including innovation education and consulting.

The kitchen is always cramped. Faced with conflicting requirements: The appliances must be easily accessible, but must fit into a cabinet to make room for a kitchen table for a cutting board and dishes. The solution was to distribute the cooking appliances on hooks on the wall.
